The Research Associate III position in Dr. Mustafa Khokha's lab at Cedars-Sinai focuses on managing aquatic environments for a colony of frogs used in research on birth defects. The role involves providing technical and administrative support, coordinating lab activities, and ensuring compliance with safety and research standards.

Responsibilities

• Manage the aquatics housing a colony of frogs, including caring for adult frogs and rearing tadpoles to adulthood.
• Provide miscellaneous clinical/research support such as data analysis, hypothesis development, and troubleshooting.
• Organize clinical/research trials in conjunction with the Principal Investigator and funding sources.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with safety standards and procedures.
• Analyze data and prepare scientific findings for publication as author or co-author.
• Make independent presentations as needed.
• Lead and train Research Lab Assistants, Research Fellows, and lower-level Research Associates.
• Orient new Research Fellows and/or Research Scientists to day-to-day lab operations and procedures.
• Oversee animal health monitoring and routine sentinel testing/reporting.
• Ensure AAALAC and IACUC compliance.
• Schedule annual preventative maintenance and repair service for all equipment in the facility.
• Assist in hiring of animal care technicians and develop quarantine SOPs.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Science in a related field required.
• Three years of research laboratory experience required.
• Two years of experience in a research specialty preferred.
