About the position

The Research Associate III position at Cedars-Sinai's MAST program focuses on supporting the development of novel drugs and devices aimed at diagnosing and treating patients with microbiome-related illnesses. The role involves collaboration with the Principal Investigator and other research associates, providing both technical and administrative support in a multi-project laboratory environment. Responsibilities include coordinating clinical trials, ensuring compliance with safety standards, analyzing data, and leading junior staff.

Responsibilities

  • Provides miscellaneous research support and facility maintenance, including ad hoc data analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Coordinates clinical/research trials in conjunction with the Principal Investigator and sponsors.
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with safety standards and procedures.
  • Analyzes data and prepares scientific findings for publication, potentially as an author or co-author.
  • Leads and trains Research Lab Assistants, Research Fellows, and junior Research Associates.
  • Orients new Research Fellows and/or Research Scientists to lab operations and procedures.
  • Maintains CITI certification for human and animal subjects (IRB and IACUC).
  • Develops and implements organizational systems for lab resources and subject specimens.
  • Collaborates with contract labs to manage internal and external datasets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science related field is required.
  • 3 years of research laboratory experience, specifically in molecular biology, is required.
  • Knowledge of the microbiome and genetic and molecular analytic techniques is essential.
  • Experience with PCR and robotics automation is preferred.
  • Digital literacy, including proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint, is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with programming and hypothesis development.
  • Familiarity with cloudlims and bartender programs for repository management.
