About the position

The Research Associate Intern position at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is designed for PhD/MS students to contribute to the Networking and Distributed Systems Lab. This internship focuses on cutting-edge areas such as cloud computing, datacenter networks, high-performance computing, AI/ML workload acceleration, and sustainability. Interns will engage in research and development, working collaboratively in a dynamic environment to advance technology solutions that impact the way people live and work.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to research in cloud/serverless computing, focusing on management, monitoring, and performance.
• Engage in projects related to cloud/datacenter networks, including management and security aspects.
• Work on high-performance computing fabrics and congestion management techniques.
• Explore AI and ML workload acceleration to enhance performance.
• Assist in the integration of WiFi and cellular technologies for seamless connectivity.
• Participate in sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing carbon emissions in data centers.
• Develop expertise in network programmability and SmartNICs.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Ph.D./MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong research, analytical, and system-building skills.
• Experience in AI operations, cloud, and distributed systems implementation.
• Proficiency in making impactful presentations to stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within teams.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with containerized platforms for application management.
