About the position

CFR's David Rockefeller Studies Program is one of the country's largest foreign policy think tanks, with a widely respected and influential research staff. The Studies Program's aim is to advance the discussion of American foreign policy and international affairs through its writing, publications, public outreach, and discussions. As part of the Studies Program, the research associate will spend half of his/her time supporting the Steven A. Tananbaum Distinguished Fellow for International Economics on the area of finance, international economics, and foreign policy. The research associate will also support the work of other programs within the Studies Program. This position is based in CFR's Washington, DC office on a hybrid basis. CFR currently defines hybrid status as working at least three days a week onsite, with Tuesdays and Thursdays considered institutional anchor days when all staff are required to be onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Researching specific areas as requested by the fellows for articles, book chapters, and other publications
  • Coordinating events, including preparing invitations, travel arrangements, corresponding with speakers and presiders, helping to prepare background papers and materials for distribution, and providing other logistical support
  • Providing administrative support to the fellows
  • Assisting with managing budgets, including preparing budgets, tracking monthly statements, and preparing vouchers for reimbursement
  • Assisting fellows with social media outreach, including publishing a blog, video, and/or using social media applications as needed
  • Providing support across departmental lines and for other fellows, upon request

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in economics or related field with strong academic credentials; Master's degree preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven interest in global financial markets, the digital economy, and economic policy
  • Administrative and/or internship experience
  • Strong research, proofreading, and editing skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Knowledge of MS Word and Excel, and preferably experience with ProQuest and similar research databases
