About the position

The Research Associate in the Research Development and Philanthropy department plays a crucial role in conducting custom research for a variety of clients. This position involves translating project designs into code, validating research results, and effectively communicating findings to clients. The role requires collaboration with team members and external contacts to refine research questions and deliver actionable insights. Currently, the position is 100% telework, with potential future requirements for on-site work in Herndon, VA.

Responsibilities

  • Validate research results, including calculations, matching logic, and visualizations.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of quantitative research and data analysis.
  • Use data visualization tools to present findings in understandable formats.
  • Manage multiple research projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Monitor internal processes for potential improvements and collect customer feedback.
  • Utilize project management tools to streamline project processes and ensure timely delivery.
  • Work closely with teams to innovate research efforts and assist with data processing as needed.
  • Effectively communicate data insights through narrative and visualizations to diverse audiences.
  • Translate technical terminology into useful language for broader audiences.
  • Present findings to relevant stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Information/Data Science, Social Sciences, Statistics, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of directly related work experience in conducting quantitative research projects.
  • Proficiency in manipulating and analyzing large-scale data and administering quality assurance control checks.
  • Experience with SAS programming or other command line driven programming languages (Python, R, STATA, SPLUS, or SPSS syntax).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical terms to a diverse audience.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration tools.
  • Working knowledge of Tableau or other data visualization software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong research planning and project management capabilities.
  • Salesforce knowledge or experience with another CRM.
  • General knowledge of the educational environment in the United States.
  • Experience working with large SAS databases.
  • Familiarity with national and state data sources in secondary and postsecondary education.
