About The Position

The Research Associate Scientist in Inflammation Discovery Research at Takeda Pharmaceutical is responsible for generating and executing preclinical development strategies to support candidate selection for drug development targeting gastrointestinal, autoimmune, and inflammatory diseases. This role involves applying scientific expertise in immunology and cell biology to create novel drug candidates and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive impactful medicines for patients with inflammatory disorders.

Requirements

  • MS in a scientific discipline with 3+ years' experience, or BS with 5+ years' experience.
  • Expertise in at least one of the following assay methods: ELISA/MSD, Western blot, qPCR, flow cytometry, ChIP.
  • Experience with cell culture, including isolation, culture, and analysis of primary immune cell subsets.
  • Direct experience with the principles, models, and pathways of autoimmunity, inflammation, and/or fibrosis.
  • Experience developing and/or evaluating small molecule, biologic and/or nucleic acid therapeutics.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational and project management skills and effective written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with in vivo study design/execution.
  • Modern high-dimensional gene expression analysis (i.e., scRNAseq).
  • Multicellular culture systems (i.e., organoids).

Responsibilities

  • Generate data packages supporting candidate selection and asset characterization based on current in vitro methods.
  • Champion scientific integrity and rigor in preparation and interpretation of detailed protocols/SOPs.
  • Independently plan assignments for a research work group or project, troubleshoot complex problems, and change experimental design if necessary.
  • Develop and validate new methods to support completion of complex assignments within a project.
  • Utilize technical literature to implement novel procedures, changes, and improvements within a project.
  • Interpret and analyze data, helping to incorporate results into overall scientific projects; independently generate novel hypotheses.
  • Maintain a proactive and vocal approach to improving departmental efficiency; summarize and present literature data within the department.
