The University of Kentucky's Center for Applied Energy Research is seeking a Research Associate Senior for a grant-funded, time-limited position focused on conducting technoeconomic analyses (TEA), life cycle analyses (LCA), risk assessments (RA), and utilizing geographic information systems (GIS). This role is pivotal in performing a comprehensive risk assessment of representative feedstocks aimed at producing sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in Kentucky through the Hydroprocessing of Esters and Fatty Acids (HEFA) pathway. This process leverages lipids found in oleaginous biomass feedstocks, commonly referred to as fats, oils, and greases (FOG). The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate expertise in the best methods, practices, and standards for these analyses, including but not limited to Greenhouse Gases, Regulated Emissions, and Energy Use in Transportation (GREET), as well as the Model Framework for Biomass Supply Chain Risk (BSCR). This position is full-time and operates on a Monday to Friday schedule from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The role does not include supervisory responsibilities, allowing the candidate to focus on their specialized research tasks. The University of Kentucky is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce, ensuring that all employees work in an environment of openness and acceptance. The institution values the well-being of its employees and is dedicated to creating a healthy workplace. Candidates should be prepared to undergo pre-employment screenings, which may include background checks and drug screenings, as mandated by the University of Kentucky Human Resources.
