We are seeking a full-time, post-doctoral research scientist to lead investigation into the genetic causes of heart failure in patients with congenital heart disease. This individual must have a PhD (or equivalent) degree with corresponding research expertise in wet bench-based cardiovascular biomedical research. The role involves developing patient-based cardiac myocyte lines from patients with congenital heart disease and using these lines to model heart failure through various functional in vitro assays, including biochemistry, calcium handling, contractility, and cell survival assays. Additionally, the position requires the growth and development of a biorepository of patient-derived DNA, blood plasma, and cells, as well as assisting with research participant recruitment and obtaining consent. Integration of key research findings with parallel research efforts within the research team is also a critical aspect of this role. Other responsibilities include establishing and optimizing work procedures and experimental protocols, communicating with regulatory authorities, and performing administrative tasks as needed. The research associate will evaluate and interpret collected data under the guidance of the principal investigator and help prepare oral presentations and written reports for meetings, manuscripts, and grants. Furthermore, the individual will contribute to the development of the research project through collaboration and incorporation of relevant literature.
