About the position

The Research Associate, Standards and Best Practices at ILPA will play a crucial role in supporting the organization's mission as a thought leader in the private equity industry. This position involves contributing to initiatives that enhance governance, transparency, and alignment of interests between General Partners and Limited Partners. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders and the development of resources that facilitate the adoption of ILPA standards and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Support the creation and evolution of ILPA standards and best practices through dialogue with members and industry participants.
  • Increase adoption and engagement with ILPA-issued standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to identify priority industry issues for ILPA's engagement.
  • Engage with a network of private market industry experts.
  • Participate in working groups to advise on developing ILPA standards and best practices.
  • Create and maintain resources for users of ILPA standards and respond to queries regarding their implementation.
  • Serve as a cross-platform resource on technical matters and develop member-facing content.
  • Participate in presentations and member engagement activities.
  • Produce training materials and process manuals related to ILPA standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration preferred.
  • 1-3 years of professional experience, preferably in private equity.
  • Familiarity with operational aspects of private equity, including accounting and reporting.
  • Understanding of the role of private equity in institutional investment portfolios.
  • Familiarity with private equity standards such as GIPS, IPEV, ILPA, GAAP, and IFRS.
  • Knowledge of regulators impacting private equity and ILPA members.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certificate in Investment Performance Measurement (CIPM), Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) (working towards is acceptable).
  • Experience with private equity operations and a desire to build industry knowledge.
  • Skilled in engaging multi-stakeholder situations with senior staff.
  • Experience in complex, multi-stage projects from inception to completion.
  • Comfort in creating engaging presentations, both in-person and virtual.
  • Strong writing skills for various communication styles.
