About the position

The Research Associate position at Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. focuses on supporting the Software franchise within the Equities division. The role involves working closely with a senior analyst to develop and market equity research products, including research reports, financial models, and industry analyses. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance and accounting, with prior equity research experience, particularly in the technology sector. The position requires independence, initiative, and strong communication skills to effectively convey investment ideas and financial data.

Responsibilities

• Support the senior analyst in developing and marketing equity research products.
• Build and maintain integrated income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow models.
• Write and produce company initiations, equity research reports, and marketing presentations.
• Organize and maintain industry data for analysis.
• Attend industry events and travel as necessary to gather insights and information.

Requirements

• Prior equity research experience, preferably covering the technology sector.
• Strong background in finance and accounting.
• Proficiency in financial modeling and quantitative analysis.
• Excellent writing and analytical skills.
• Strong sales and communication skills for interaction with clients and internal teams.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
• Strong PC skills, particularly in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Bloomberg, and FactSet.

Nice-to-haves

• MBA, CFA, or BBA, or comparable graduate degree preferred.
• FINRA Registrations (SIE Securities Exam/63/86/87) are advantageous but not mandatory.
