About the position

The Research Associate position at the School District of Manatee County is designed to provide confidential assistance to the Investigator in the Office of Professional Standards. The role is crucial for ensuring the efficient operation of the office, involving tasks such as preparing investigative reports, conducting research, and maintaining case files. The position requires a high level of responsibility and discretion, as it deals with sensitive information related to district employees and students.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare designated portions of district professional standards investigative reports and other related documents.
  • Conduct preliminary research and open employee case files as directed.
  • Prepare re-assignment letters of employees under investigation.
  • Prepare cover letters and reports for investigator's review and signature.
  • Compile and upload employee investigative materials to the Professional Practices Services of the Florida Department of Education for disciplinary investigations.
  • Coordinate reports and information from local law enforcement agencies regarding employees who have been arrested.
  • Receive subpoenas for employees on matters that involve the employee in their role as a district employee, scan and email subpoena to appropriate principal or director.
  • Prepare employee professional standards case file for discipline review committee.
  • Maintain and update professional standards case files.
  • Maintain confidentiality in sensitive school district employee matters and student related information.
  • Maintain the calendar of the Investigator of Professional Standards as requested.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for conferences and/or workshops for Investigator.
  • Prepare departmental board work for submission to school board meetings as requested.
  • Assure that Purchase Card requisitions are processed accurately and in a timely manner in PeopleSoft.
  • Assure all Purchase Card transactions are reconciled accurately.
  • Assure all contracts are processed accurately.
  • Maintain the department budget through monthly reports.
  • Maintain departmental equipment and office supply inventory.
  • Receive and route telephone calls, respond to calls pertaining to Spanish translating.
  • Respond to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
  • Keep Investigator informed of potential problems or unusual events.
  • Ensure adherence to good safety standards.
  • Exhibit interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member.
  • Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
  • Model and maintain high ethical standards.
  • Represent the District in a positive and professional manner.
  • Provide assistance to other departments as requested.
  • Participate successfully in training programs offered to enhance job performance.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Investigator of Professional Standards.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or approved equivalency diploma.
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in an administrative support role.
  • Ability to perform highly responsible tasks to assist the Investigator.
  • Ability to carry out job responsibilities and handle confidential information appropriately.
  • Ability to type accurately at a prescribed rate of speed in order to transcribe recorded interviews.
  • Ability to research Court websites in various counties for investigative purposes.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to perform routine duties with minimal or no supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual speaker desirable.

  • Salary range of $16.93 - $19.00 per hour.
