About the position

The Bioinformatics Analyst at Versiti plays a crucial role in supporting hypothesis-driven research by analyzing and integrating genome-wide datasets. This position involves developing and maintaining bioinformatics pipelines for next-generation sequencing (NGS) and microarray datasets, ensuring the generation of usable data for further interpretation by investigators. The analyst will work independently on primary analyses and collaborate on secondary analyses, contributing to improved patient outcomes through scientific research.

Responsibilities

• Develops, implements and maintains bioinformatics pipelines for the analysis and visualization of NGS data.
• Validates and qualifies software packages for research use.
• Performs analysis of NGS and array type datasets.
• Collaborates with Information Services for the maintenance and archiving of data.
• Maintains databases of data and projects.
• Works with Principal Investigator to support research projects as needed.
• Collaborates with colleagues in the lab to analyze and integrate different types of datasets.
• Coordinates internal and external resources necessary for completion of a research plan.

Requirements

• Experience in bioinformatics or a related field.
• Proficiency in analyzing next-generation sequencing (NGS) data.
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or R.
• Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and software for data analysis.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research environment.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with RNA-seq, microarray, exome sequencing, whole genome sequencing, and ChIP-seq studies.
• Knowledge of database management and data archiving practices.
• Familiarity with cloud computing resources for data analysis.
