About the position

The Research Budget Analyst plays a crucial role within the CHRISTUS Institute for Innovation & Advanced Clinical Care (CIIACC), providing essential support to the Office of Research Finance Administration (ORFA). This position is responsible for managing research award activities, including budget preparation and negotiation for both pre-award and post-award phases. The analyst ensures financial integrity and compliance while facilitating effective communication between various stakeholders, including senior leadership and funding sources.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage patient stipends system and contract coverage.
  • Review and interpret clinical research protocols to develop budgets.
  • Collaborate with regional leaders to ensure accurate and timely budgets.
  • Negotiate budget and payment terms with sponsors and funding sources.
  • Analyze sponsors' budget proposals for adequacy in covering trial costs.
  • Enter and maintain financial information in the CTMS system.
  • Create and maintain files related to pre-award activities for clinical trials.
  • Work with research accounting to ensure accurate cost centers and fund transfers.
  • Review coverage analysis for accurate negotiations within study budgets.
  • Assist in maintaining a database for financial information on sponsored trials.
  • Manage participant payment system for compliant payments to trial participants.
  • Prepare detailed audit and cost reports for departmental use.
  • Facilitate development of benchmarking and comparative reporting of revenue cycle metrics.
  • Perform financial opportunity assessments to improve revenue cycle performance.
  • Provide training and support to team members on budget-related processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Nursing, Finance, Healthcare, or related field.
  • 2-4 years of experience in clinical research budgeting and finance.
  • Strong data analysis and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with teams.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with financial data analysis in a clinical research setting.
  • Familiarity with Good Clinical Research Practice standards.
