About the position

The Research Community Manager at the Shorenstein Center, Harvard University, is responsible for overseeing the fellowship programs, managing the application and selection processes, and ensuring a positive experience for fellows. This role involves collaboration with leadership and staff to develop impactful research outputs and programming that aligns with the Center's mission.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the fellowship program and research community.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for fellows and researchers, providing ongoing support.
  • Develop and manage the fellowship application process, coordinating outreach and managing applicant data.
  • Evaluate and select fellows based on program goals and priorities in collaboration with the review committee.
  • Organize and facilitate orientation for new fellows to ensure understanding of the Center's mission and resources.
  • Design and execute fellowship and research programming, including workshops and seminars.
  • Maintain regular communication with fellows about events, deadlines, and opportunities.
  • Manage the fellowship program's budget and resources efficiently.
  • Contribute to the Center's broader mission by participating in strategic initiatives and events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree and at least 5 years' work experience in a related role.
  • Event planning experience with high-level donors and/or stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in academic or non-profit administration and leadership.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop innovative programming.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Graphic design and/or document preparation experience.
  • Interest in media, public policy, and emerging technologies.
