About the position

Penn State's Office for Research Protections (ORP) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to serve as the Research Compliance Educator. The ORP, part of the Office of the Senior Vice President for Research, plays a pivotal role in supporting Penn State's vibrant research community, which boasts an annual research expenditure of $1.23 billion and ranks among the top 30 public research universities in the nation. The ORP oversees the research compliance and administrative processes for animal research, biosafety, and isotopes. The Research Compliance Educator will report to the Director of Education and Outreach. As part of the Education and Outreach team, the Research Compliance Educator will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating the effectiveness of the University-wide IACUC, IBC, and UIC education programs. This role includes creating synchronous and asynchronous training opportunities for existing and in-development related processes and systems for the animal and research safety compliance programs, ranging from introductory training to in-depth researcher training. The Educator will assess future training needs and requirements for both program processes and systems, assist in the development of system documentation, communication, and support materials, and serve as a conduit among end users, the ORP programs, and the Centralized Application Tracking System (CATS) team. Additionally, the Research Compliance Educator will assist with the development of communications and outreach for the ORP and its programs, including the newsletter and website. The Educator will also assist the Director with special projects, including technology-based training and management, act as the University administrator of CITI, and contribute to additional educational offerings for the research community, including backing up other team educators on subjects such as human participants, research security, and conflict of interest disclosures. This position can be performed remotely within the US and may require occasional on-site training delivery at Penn State's commonwealth locations, particularly University Park, and may involve hiring, training, supervising, and/or evaluating assigned staff.
