Swarthmore College is seeking a part-time Research Compliance Manager to join the Office of Research Integrity and Engagement (ORIE). This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about supporting ethical research practices and compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. The Research Compliance Manager will work closely with the Director of ORIE and will be responsible for overseeing the administration of research supported by the Institutional Review Board (IRB), the Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), and the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC). This position is hybrid, requiring 17.5 hours of work per week, and is eligible for benefits over a 12-month period. In this role, the Research Compliance Manager will conduct initial reviews of submissions to compliance committees, ensuring that all necessary documentation is complete and compliant with relevant regulations. The individual will provide feedback to the Director regarding areas of compliance that require attention, such as training, grant funding, export controls, safety concerns, and the handling of private health information (PHI) and vulnerable populations. Additionally, the Manager will facilitate administrative processes related to Student Summer Opportunities Awards and assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures that uphold research integrity. The successful candidate will develop a strong understanding of relevant regulations and policies, communicating effectively with faculty, staff, and administrators to ensure that their research meets compliance requirements. Establishing open lines of communication with various campus partners, including Sponsored Programs, the Provost's Office, and the Office of General Counsel, will be essential for assisting in the administration of research proposals and awards that involve complex regulatory criteria. The Research Compliance Manager will also contribute to the development of educational resources and programming related to the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR), conflicts of interest (COI), and export controls, while participating in service work for the College as needed.
