About the position

The Research Compliance Manager at Swarthmore College is a part-time position within the Office of Research Integrity and Engagement (ORIE). This role focuses on supporting ethical research practices and compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. The manager will assist in the administration of research processes related to the Institutional Review Board (IRB), the Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), and the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC). The position involves collaboration with various campus partners and the development of educational resources related to research integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Processes and conducts initial reviews of submissions to compliance committees for completeness, providing feedback to the Director on relevant compliance areas.
  • Facilitates ORIE's administrative/review processes related to Student Summer Opportunities Awards.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to research integrity.
  • Develops and maintains working knowledge of relevant regulations and policies, communicating with faculty, staff, and administrators about compliance requirements.
  • Establishes communication with campus partners to assist in the administration of research proposals and awards.
  • Assists the Director in developing and implementing educational resources and programming.
  • Conducts special projects to support the office as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with at least one year of job-related experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office apps (Word, Excel, etc.) and Google Work apps (Docs, Sheets, etc.).
  • Strong data management and database skills.
  • Ability to use and learn eRA tools such as Cayuse.

  • Experience working on a college campus with diverse faculty, staff, and administrators to help meet regulatory requirements related to research.
