About the position

The Research Coordinator I position in the Dermatology Department at Baylor College of Medicine is responsible for coordinating day-to-day activities related to clinical trials and research initiatives, particularly within the Skin of Color clinic. This role involves direct interaction with patients, assisting in recruitment, documentation, and managing various administrative tasks to support the research mission.

Responsibilities

  • Interviewing and administering surveys to recruit patients for clinical trials.
  • Scheduling research participants for tests and procedures, such as laboratory tests and x-rays.
  • Corresponding with patients throughout the study.
  • Scribing during clinic visits and scheduling follow-up calls with patients.
  • Collecting, processing, shipping, and maintaining paperwork for biological specimens according to study protocols.
  • Assisting with daily administrative tasks, including preparing study materials and organizing documents.
  • Providing detailed patient information for studies, including scheduling follow-ups.
  • Maintaining institutional review board (IRB) documents for active studies, including submission of amendments.
  • Ordering and organizing laboratory research supplies and equipment.
  • Entering data from clinical trials into electronic data capture systems and ensuring data accuracy.
  • Performing other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (no experience required with preferred degree).
  • Previous clinical trial experience.
  • Organized and self-motivated with the ability to work well under pressure and multitask.
