About the position

UTHealth Houston is Texas' resource for healthcare education, innovation, scientific discovery, and excellence in patient care. We are hiring immediately for a Clinical Research Coordinator I/II to join the UTHealth McGovern Medical School, Department of Internal Medicine, Cardiology in Houston, TX 77030. This position is with the Structural Heart & Interventional Cardiology Program, where you will lead and manage clinical studies and projects aimed at improving patient outcomes. The ideal candidate should have prior experience with enrolling patients, consenting, and other aspects of clinical research.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with the day-to-day project management coordination for research projects including personnel, facilities, supplies, budgets, and timeliness.
  • Assists in the preparation of progress reports and grant proposals to private foundations and governmental agencies; works closely with the Office of Sponsored Projects on grant submissions.
  • Prepares budgets, initiates re-budgeting requests based on research staff needs, and authorizes expenditures for multiple projects.
  • Attends research-planning meetings to assist in the preparation of budget drafts for departmental leadership approval.
  • Prepares annual progress reports and applications for various committees, ensuring all staff have received proper training.
  • Maintains confidential records of collected data, ensuring accuracy and integrity of data.
  • Prepares draft reports and communications for departmental program/division leadership.
  • Interacts with representatives from state, federal, and private agencies regarding proposals and funded projects.
  • Provides administrative direction and guidance to administrative staff personnel within the department.
  • May review contracts and develop training.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Experience in clinical research or a related field.
  • Knowledge of research regulations, including GCP and IRB processes.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or relevant experience in lieu of education.
