About the position

The Research Coordinator II position at Houston Methodist is responsible for coordinating the daily activities of research protocols in the neurology department. This role involves assessing and determining patient qualifications for research studies, ensuring accurate data collection, and maintaining the safety of research participants. The coordinator will also perform administrative duties to support the study and work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) to manage various aspects of clinical research.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day activities of research protocols.
  • Assess and determine qualification of patients for research studies.
  • Ensure accurate data collection and documentation.
  • Gather patient data for clinical research activities as per study protocol.
  • Draft communications with the Sponsor and regulatory documents under the direction of the PI.
  • Identify and recruit clinical research subjects and monitor enrollment goals.
  • Conduct in-services for floor nurses/physicians and assist in precepting new clinical research staff.
  • Participate in PI meetings and coordinate study initiation visits.
  • Obtain Informed Consent from study participants and document appropriately.
  • Prepare Institutional Research Board (IRB) documents and assist with IRB stipulations.
  • Maintain and monitor source documentation for quality and accuracy.
  • Assist with budget development and Medicare coverage analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Four years of research experience.
  • Valid CCRP certification preferred (Certified Clinical Research Coordinator) or CCRC certification.
