About the position

The Research Coordinator (Survey Researcher 3) at the University of California, Davis is responsible for managing a five-year project focused on comparing treatment outcomes for opioid use disorder via telehealth and in-person clinic visits. This role involves patient enrollment, data collection, and project administration, primarily in a busy emergency department setting during swing shift hours. The coordinator will work closely with emergency room staff and substance use navigators to optimize recruitment and ensure project success.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, enroll, and interview patients with opioid use disorder.
  • Coordinate with emergency room staff and substance use navigators to optimize recruitment.
  • Obtain informed consent from participants and collect survey data.
  • Perform basic data management and analysis.
  • Assist with IRB applications, modifications, and renewals.
  • Assess and suggest modifications to recruitment processes to meet enrollment targets.
  • Assist with survey question design and co-draft progress reports, abstracts, and manuscripts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a health or social science-related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with problem-solving and maintaining professional collaboration.
  • Proficiency in data collection, management, and analysis.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, especially with individuals with substance use disorder.
  • Ability to develop rapport with traditionally marginalized groups.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including Microsoft Office and other relevant software.

Nice-to-haves

  • CITI Certified
  • Master's degree in public health, public policy, or social sciences.
  • Experience with research administration and preparing IRB applications.
  • Experience with REDCap surveys and electronic health record systems.
  • Project management experience, including creating timelines and reports.
  • Fluency in Spanish and knowledge of health policy research.
