About the position

The Research Data Analyst 2 position at the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley, involves a comprehensive role in gathering, analyzing, and interpreting a wide variety of research data. In addition to data analysis, the analyst will conduct statistical studies in support of research proposals and protocols. This includes managing personnel, timelines, logistics, and data collection for diverse research studies, as well as overseeing undergraduate research assistants during their studies. The position also entails maintaining and developing research gathering, retrieval, and reporting systems, collaborating with faculty, graduate students, research assistants, and staff to manage a portfolio of research projects and ensure effective communication flow. The analyst will be responsible for planning studies, which includes designing survey instruments and determining sampling and reporting procedures. They will prepare and analyze research data, understand components of literature reviews, and contribute to the development and revision of ongoing projects. Participation in research seminars and collaboration on the design, documentation, testing, and implementation of research studies are also key aspects of this role. The analyst will assist in developing systems for organizing data to analyze, identify, and report trends, as well as scheduling and coordinating research meetings. Additionally, they will coordinate the hiring, interviewing, and reviewing of applicants for undergraduate and predoctoral research assistants, and may be involved in researching, evaluating, and selecting new data reporting products. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of research function.
  • Working skills in statistical analysis, systems programming, database design, and data security measures.
  • Working skills in analysis and consultation.
  • Skills to communicate complex information clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Julia, STATA, MatLab, and/or Perl.
  • Proficiency in version control software such as git.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a desire to promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in a business or public university setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
