About the position

The Research Data Analyst position at Stanford University's School of Medicine involves cleaning, processing, and analyzing neuroscience data, particularly focusing on brain MRIs. This role is crucial for streamlining data collection and processing pipelines, ensuring data integrity, and supporting the lab's computational infrastructure. The Analyst will manage information workflows, collaborate with faculty and research staff, and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, manage, and clean datasets.
  • Employ new and existing tools to interpret, analyze, and visualize multivariate relationships in data.
  • Create databases and reports, develop algorithms and statistical models, and perform statistical analyses appropriate to data and reporting requirements.
  • Use system reports and analyses to identify potentially problematic data, make corrections, and determine root causes for data problems.
  • Develop reports, charts, graphs, and tables for use by investigators and for publication and presentation.
  • Analyze data processes in documentation.
  • Collaborate with faculty and research staff on data collection and analysis methods.
  • Provide documentation based on audit and reporting criteria to investigators and research staff.
  • Communicate with government officials, grant agencies, and industry representatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and relevant experience.
  • At least 1 year of experience in programming in Python and shell scripting within UNIX/Linux.
  • Experience with data management systems, such as REDCap (using MySQL) or XNAT (using PostgreSQL).
  • Experience with git.
  • Experience in a quantitative discipline such as economics, finance, statistics, or engineering.
  • Substantial experience with MS Office and analytical programs.
  • Strong writing and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with pipeline management toolchain (e.g. CMAKE, Snakemake, Airflow, Kubernetes).
  • Experience in using a HPCC environment is desirable.
  • Experience with environment/containerization systems (conda, Docker, Singularity).
