About the position

The Research Data Analyst II position within the California Justice Information Services Division focuses on providing reliable data and investigative services to support criminal justice partners and public policy stakeholders. The role involves performing research and statistical work, planning and producing publications, and responding to information requests. The analyst will utilize statistical techniques to summarize data and present findings effectively, contributing to the mission of protecting Californians through informed decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Perform research and statistical work in the Criminal Justice Statistic Center (CJSC).
  • Plan and produce CJSC publications and responses to information requests.
  • Identify necessary data for projects and summarize it using appropriate statistical techniques.
  • Present information orally and/or in writing to stakeholders.
  • Exercise judgment in developing and implementing projects with minimal to moderate detail.

Requirements

  • Experience in statistics and data analysis.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice process.
  • Experience with statistical packages such as SPSS or SAS.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
