About the position

The Research Data Analyst position at Northwestern University focuses on providing expertise in data management, quality assurance, analysis, and reporting within the pulmonary department. The role involves establishing data accuracy, performing statistical analysis, and creating reports to support decision-making for both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with clients to define requirements based on business objectives.
  • Develop standardized templates, policies, and procedures for internal and external reporting.
  • Design and prepare documentation for qualitative and quantitative data analysis.
  • Discuss findings with senior management.
  • Develop queries and quality metrics.
  • Interpret results using various techniques, from simple data aggregation to complex statistical analysis.
  • Manage complex databases.
  • Complete data cleaning and organize data files for analysis.
  • Review data and identify quality issues.
  • Present findings in an appropriate manner.
  • Provide work direction and/or supervise staff such as team members, subordinates, contractors, vendors, and students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field or appropriate combination of education and experience.
  • 2 years of data analysis/report writing or similar experience required.
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), GlobusOnline, High Performance Computing (HPC), Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and Shell Scripting.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in data mining and data modeling.
  • Familiarity with data warehouse design and development.
  • Knowledge of debugging and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Experience in project management within an agile environment.
