About the position

The Research and Data Analyst position at Kitsap Transit involves leading the Marketing department's research initiatives to enhance customer experience, ridership growth, and marketing campaigns. The role requires collaboration across departments to utilize data for identifying key performance indicators, trends, forecasts, and business opportunities, ultimately assisting in informed decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Lead marketing research to understand customer needs and develop strategies for increasing the use of Kitsap Transit's services.
• Identify data requirements for research projects, collect data, perform ETL processes, and use statistical techniques to answer business questions.
• Produce and maintain databases, data warehouses, and data products using SQL, R, Python, and/or PowerBI.
• Create maps and GIS data products using ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, or equivalent software.
• Collect, analyze, and present data on various media types, transit agency ridership, service quality, customer feedback, and market demand.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business analytics, marketing, planning, social science, computer science, data science, statistics, or a related field.
• Two years of experience in data analysis, digital marketing, demographic research, or related fields, or six years of relevant experience without a degree.
• Strong problem-solving skills and strategic thinking ability.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with processing JSON data from web APIs.
• Experience with intercept interviews and customer-journey mapping.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
