Communities for Youth, the department under which this position operates, is dedicated to engaging with Idaho communities to promote youth well-being through upstream prevention approaches. The organization connects parents, schools, and children to address health concerns, particularly focusing on mental health issues affecting Idaho youth. The School of Public and Population Health (SPPH) at Boise State University, where this position is housed, is committed to advancing public health in Idaho through excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. In this role, the Data Analyst will be expected to prepare and present detailed statistical and narrative reports, utilizing visually compelling charts and graphs to communicate findings effectively. The position requires a high level of independence and judgment, as the analyst will work with minimal supervision while also providing guidance to entry-level professionals. The Data Analyst will be a key member of project teams, responsible for overseeing quantitative data organization, management, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of research data, ensuring data quality and confidentiality throughout the process.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present statistical and narrative reports with an emphasis on detail and accuracy.
  • Dissect and summarize information using visually compelling charts and graphs.
  • Effectively present findings to key stakeholders in various formats.
  • Publish standard and complex ad-hoc reports for different audiences.
  • Respond to and provide data for internal and external surveys.
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment to achieve organizational goals.
  • Develop and document procedures to streamline processes and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee quantitative data organization, management, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of research data.
  • Utilize knowledge of statistics and quantitative analysis in data management.
  • Conduct sophisticated computer programming and statistical modeling using statistical software.
  • Generate reports, charts, tables, and presentations suitable for various audiences.
  • Make recommendations for design and data collection methodology.
  • Detect and assist in solving problems in research survey instruments and data quality.
  • Clean incoming data files and manage data databases.
  • Ensure data quality and confidentiality through quality assurance protocols.
  • Help develop grant proposals, project reports, and manuscripts for publication.
  • Design, create, and edit data collection surveys as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to understand others' viewpoints.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and use independent judgment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrative experience with presentation and data-gathering software.
  • Experience applying analytical methods to business problems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel analytics and statistical analysis techniques.

Nice-to-haves

  • Three years of related experience.
  • Proficient in Qualtrics.
  • Proficient in statistical software such as R, Matlab, Stata, SAS, or similar programs.
  • Experience with data visualizations for various audiences.
  • Master's Degree in a related discipline.
