About the position

The Research and Data Analyst position at Kitsap Transit is a key role within the Marketing department, responsible for leading research initiatives to enhance customer experience, drive ridership growth, and evaluate marketing campaigns. The analyst will collaborate across departments to develop and communicate key performance indicators, trends, and business opportunities using data-driven insights.

Responsibilities

  • Lead marketing research to understand customer needs and develop strategies for increasing the use of Kitsap Transit's services.
  • Identify data requirements for research projects and collect the necessary data through various methods including surveys, field observations, and interviews.
  • Perform ETL (extract, transform, load) processes and apply statistical and analytical techniques to answer business questions.
  • Produce and maintain databases, data warehouses, and data products using SQL, R, Python, and/or PowerBI.
  • Create maps and GIS data products using ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, or equivalent tools.
  • Develop interactive data visualizations and dashboards using Tableau, PowerBI, or equivalent software.
  • Collect, analyze, and present data on various media types, transit agency ridership, service quality, customer feedback, and market demand to recommend performance improvements.

Requirements

  • Experience in marketing research and data analysis.
  • Proficiency in SQL, R, Python, and data visualization tools such as Tableau or PowerBI.
  • Knowledge of GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro or QGIS.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Excellent communication skills for presenting data insights and recommendations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with ETL processes and data warehousing.
  • Familiarity with customer journey mapping and market demand analysis.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
