The Department of International Health is seeking a Research Data Analyst to join the Center for Humanitarian Health (CHH). This department collaborates with UN agencies, non-governmental organizations, and various institutions to generate evidence aimed at improving humanitarian response policies and practices. The CHH is involved in a variety of ongoing research and practice projects across different humanitarian settings worldwide, including conflict zones, refugee situations, rapid-onset natural disasters, and prolonged food crises. The projects undertaken by CHH are diverse and may include providing technical support to implementing organizations, conducting implementation research, and performing effectiveness evaluations. A common theme across these projects is the necessity for flexibility and feasibility in implementation, particularly in complex and evolving humanitarian contexts. Collaboration with a wide range of actors is often required to facilitate effective data collection, making this role crucial in generating and synthesizing evidence across various humanitarian topics and settings. In this role, the Research Data Analyst will support internal project coordination and management needs, which includes liaising with partners, conducting literature reviews to provide necessary background and context, monitoring progress of activities, and managing logistics for data collection. The analyst will also assist in the development of data collection tools for both quantitative and qualitative research. For quantitative data collection, this includes supporting the development and testing of electronic data collection forms, creating training materials, and providing training for data collectors, as well as pilot testing the data collection tools. The analyst will provide supportive supervision for data collection, which involves real-time monitoring of quantitative data collection and reviewing qualitative transcripts and summaries to ensure quality and adherence to the study protocol. Regular feedback will be provided to data collection teams to ensure data quality, consistency, and adequate sampling. The role also involves conducting qualitative and/or quantitative analysis in collaboration with CHH faculty, which for quantitative analysis includes data cleaning, descriptive statistics, and statistical tests using software such as Stata or R. Qualitative analysis may involve thematic analysis and the use of software platforms like Maxqda, Dedoose, or Nvivo. Opportunities for spatial analysis and statistics may also be available. Collaboration with CHH faculty will be essential in interpreting and integrating findings from various sources, including qualitative and quantitative primary data and literature reviews. The analyst will also support the development of various dissemination products, such as peer-reviewed journal articles, study reports, technical briefs, and PowerPoint presentations.
