About the position

The Bank Street Education Center, a division of Bank Street College of Education, is seeking a Research & Data Analyst to support various projects within the Ed Center's math portfolio. This role is pivotal in leading measurement planning, developing data collection tools, and executing research activities that align with the goals of the assigned projects. The analyst will work closely with the Project Director, the Executive Director of Math, and other members of the Math portfolio, as well as the Director of Research and Evaluation. Collaboration with portfolio teams across the Education Center is essential to ensure the success of the projects. The Research & Data Analyst will be responsible for outlining measurement strategies and project metrics in collaboration with team leads. This includes creating data collection tools that capture relevant data, supporting the maintenance of data management structures, and developing data visualizations for various stakeholders. The analyst will also manage the sharing of student-level data with district partners and contribute to grant or progress evaluation requirements. Regular participation in team meetings and updates on project impacts will be expected, along with gathering and analyzing research on continuous improvement and education policy. In addition to research and analytics, the analyst will manage timelines for analytics responsibilities, support data collection implementation, and maintain organizational systems for project documentation. The role requires building and maintaining relationships with external partners and may involve representing the team at external engagements. The analyst will also perform related duties as assigned, ensuring that all project activities align with the overall goals of the Ed Center.

Responsibilities

  • Outline a measurement plan that documents the measurement strategy and associated project metrics.
  • Create data collection tools aligned to key project metrics, such as surveys and observation tools.
  • Build and maintain data management structures for qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.
  • Create data visualizations, including dashboards and reports, for various stakeholders.
  • Manage the sharing of student-level data with district partners.
  • Contribute to grant or progress evaluation requirements as needed.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide updates on project impacts.
  • Gather and analyze research on continuous improvement and education policy.
  • Support professional learning sessions and facilitate discussions.
  • Inform a broader analytics strategy across the portfolio.

Requirements

  • Background in research and education with experience analyzing student-level data.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and manage complex projects.
  • Expertise in interpreting and summarizing academic research for diverse audiences.
  • Strong communication skills, including public speaking and report writing.
  • Advanced expertise in Microsoft Excel and Google Data Studio.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent presentation skills using PowerPoint or Google Slides.
  • Experience with reporting and managing grant-funded projects.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations at classroom or school levels.
  • M.A. degree in education, M.P.A, M.P.P, or related field.
