About the position

The R&D Project Portfolio Manager at Heritage Research Group is responsible for managing a portfolio of research and development projects to support the long-term goals of the organization. This role involves ensuring adherence to project management standards, tracking project progress, developing key performance indicators (KPIs), and fostering process improvement and risk management practices. The successful candidate will demonstrate improvements in project success rates and overall portfolio health based on established KPIs.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of R&D projects to achieve long-term goals.
  • Ensure R&D stage gate projects adhere to project management standards.
  • Track, review, and report on stage gate projects to stakeholders.
  • Develop and monitor project and portfolio KPIs for insights into the R&D portfolio.
  • Role model process improvement, risk management, and change management practices.
  • Collaborate with project leaders to ensure adherence to project management guidelines.
  • Document work performed and ensure proper labeling and protection of confidential information.
  • Comply with safety protocols and intervene in safety issues as necessary.
  • Develop work plans to address identified needs in collaboration with sponsors and teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in science or engineering is preferred.
  • 7-10 years of Project Management experience is required.
  • Portfolio management experience is preferred.
  • Experience in an R&D based organization is ideal.
