About the position

The Research & Development Scientist II position at Wells Enterprises involves the tactical execution of research and development initiatives, focusing on taking both new and existing products from the conceptualization phase through to commercialization. This role requires a blend of creativity, technical knowledge, and practical application of scientific methodologies to enhance product innovation and value. The scientist will work under general supervision, coordinating project activities while adhering to constraints related to time, target, and budget. A strong understanding of ingredients, products, and the manufacturing processes specific to frozen desserts is essential for the successful completion of projects. In this role, the scientist will communicate project needs, provide status updates, and offer technical advice to stakeholders, thereby promoting more efficient and effective project performance. The position also requires the application of scientific methodology and data analysis fundamentals in product development, ensuring that all R&D plans and strategies align with the company's objectives. The scientist will support the implementation of the New Product Development (NPD) process, contributing to the overall success of the company's product offerings. Some travel may be required as part of the role, depending on project needs and business necessities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project activities to take new and existing products from conceptualization through commercialization.
  • Apply knowledge of ingredients and frozen dessert manufacturing processes to complete projects.
  • Communicate project needs and status updates to stakeholders.
  • Apply scientific methodology and data analysis in product development.
  • Support the implementation of the New Product Development (NPD) process.
  • Adhere to project management processes and deliver R&D plans in support of company objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in food/dairy science or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in food/dairy or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of Food Science/Dairy Science and R&D business plans.
