About the position

The Research Editor at The Consortium, Inc. is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of various content types, including print, web, and video. This role involves conducting thorough research, fact-checking, and collaborating with writers and editors to maintain the integrity of the organization's content. The position requires a high level of autonomy and expertise in fact-checking best practices, particularly in areas related to Medicare, Social Security, and health-related topics.

Responsibilities

• Research and edit various content types including print, web, and video articles.
• Review organizational content for factual and contextual accuracy.
• Provide front-end research and resources for writers and editors on selected content projects.
• Evaluate content for factual accuracy and verify quotes and expert contributions.
• Gather information from various sources and translate complex data into plain English.
• Make recommendations to editors to ensure factual accuracy.
• Execute front-end research for internal stakeholders on specified content projects.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align content with organizational priorities and brand strategy.
• Document fact-checking materials for archiving purposes.
• Maintain efficiency under pressure and prioritize assignments and deadlines.

Requirements

• Mid-level experience in research editing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Lexis-Nexis.
• Basic knowledge of Adobe InCopy.
• Experience in Medicare, Social Security, health, money, and elections subject areas.
• Experience working with national magazines, newspapers, or websites.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience using Macintosh systems.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
