About the position

The Research Electrical Engineer position at SRI International focuses on semiconductor device physics and hardware security. The role involves conducting innovative research and development in electronic system design, CMOS devices, and hardware security, contributing to projects that are vital for national security. The ideal candidate will engage in hands-on research, design experiments, and develop prototypes while collaborating with a team to secure funding for new research opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct basic and applied research in semiconductor devices, electronic circuits and systems, and hardware security.
  • Design, set up, and perform laboratory analysis of electronic devices and systems.
  • Design digital and analog systems including the use of high-level description languages for FPGA and ASIC design.
  • Perform physical modeling and computer-aided design using COMSOL, HFSS, SolidWorks, etc., and develop custom software tools using Python, C++, MATLAB, etc.
  • Seek, develop, and champion new research opportunities. Write and win proposals as a member of our team to actively seek funding from various government and commercial agencies.
  • Make technical presentations to external clients, academic, government, and industry audiences and to internal staff.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering. Recent graduates are welcome to apply, while industry experience is also a plus.
  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain/maintain/transfer a DOD Security Clearance is required.
  • Solid technical knowledge in electronic device physics and mixed-signal electronic circuits and systems.
  • Familiarity with physical measurements and laboratory instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of electromagnetics.
  • Programming experience for analysis, simulation, and instrumentation, e.g. with MATLAB, C++, Python, LabVIEW.
  • Modeling and computer-aided design experience, e.g. with COMSOL, HFSS, SolidWorks.
