Responsibilities

  • Participate in research projects applying remote sensing and geospatial analysis to solve project tasks.
  • Contribute as a team member on multi-disciplinary research projects.
  • Troubleshoot issues in data processing and analysis to ensure valid data collection.
  • Evaluate and apply results from data collected and research projects.
  • Contribute technical expertise to conference presentations, journal articles, and technical reports.
  • Participate in fieldwork in remote environments following data collection protocols.
  • Contribute to competitive proposals for remote sensing research projects.
  • Assess and implement safety measures and training in fieldwork.
  • Commit to continuous improvement strategies in everyday work.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or higher in remote sensing, geospatial technology, geography, earth science, ecology, or closely related field.
  • Experience with algorithm development and data processing using Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR).
  • Proficiency in remote sensing data analysis using software tools like ERDAS Imagine or Google Earth Engine.
  • Practical knowledge of Python or comparable programming languages.
  • Coursework in higher-level math, statistics, or remote sensing.
  • Demonstrated organizational ability and attention to detail.
  • Experience in preparing and contributing to competitive research proposals.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with statistical analysis software (SAS or R).
  • Experience in a remote sensing and/or geospatial research environment.
  • Background in mathematics and physics underlying Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR).
  • Experience with managing large geospatial datasets.
  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques.
  • Experience with advanced computational systems for large datasets.
  • Experience with fieldwork protocols.
