The Research Finance Manager at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) plays a crucial role in the Research Finance Management team, focusing on post-award research fund administration. This position is responsible for the review and approval of fiscal expenditures related to research projects, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations. The manager will serve as the principal administrative resource and contact between investigators, external funding agencies, and MSK, acting as an information consultant for researchers within the institution. In this role, the Research Finance Manager will assume financial control of assigned departments, monitoring funding expenditures by investigators and ensuring that costs are allowable and reasonable. The manager will establish management and administrative controls for all grants, contracts, and other research funding mechanisms, advising investigators and department administration about funding availability and potential issues. This includes ensuring that the rules for grants management are understood and followed, particularly in relation to federal sources, voluntary agencies, industrial contracts, and philanthropic sources. The position requires a proactive individual who can work under pressure and meet deadlines while maintaining a high standard of professional service. The manager will collaborate with investigators to establish and maintain annual budgets for research awards and will be responsible for maintaining discretion with confidential information and handling sensitive situations appropriately. This is a fully remote role, with the possibility of a hybrid option that allows for some travel to campus if requested.
