About the position

The Research Financial Analyst II position involves providing analytical, financial, and training support for contract and grant proposal development, funding administration, and budget development. The role includes managing funds post-award, analyzing research funding trends, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The analyst will coordinate proposals, review for compliance, negotiate contracts, and manage financial reporting, all while maintaining accurate records in line with institutional policies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide analytical and financial support for contract and grant proposal development.
  • Manage funds post-award and assist in closeout activities for various sponsors.
  • Analyze research funding trends and sources, forecasting, and planning.
  • Coordinate and develop proposals, contracts, and agreements.
  • Review proposals for institutional compliance and program success.
  • Negotiate, administer, and monitor contract and grant awards.
  • Perform financial management and reporting, including sub-award administration.
  • Develop and oversee research awards and transactions related to contract and grant management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience/training.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with budgets, contracts, and grants.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of transactions.
  • Competence in performing moderately complex financial analysis and customized reporting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in spreadsheet and database software for financial analysis.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with a customer service focus.
  • Knowledge of compliance regulations in research administration.
  • Understanding of generally accepted accounting and reporting principles.
  • Writing skills for drafting persuasive text for various audiences.
  • Excellent initiative, attention to detail, and accuracy in work.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and apply guidelines and policies.

  • Familiarity with federal, state, local, and institutional regulations and policies.
