Responsibilities include administering the financial aspects of multiple extramural funds, monitoring budgets, verifying permissible expenses, and preparing detailed financial reports and invoices for submission to funding agencies. The analyst will serve as the primary financial liaison between principal investigators, university departments, and external funding agencies, offering ongoing financial guidance and support to researchers while addressing any financial issues that may arise. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a high level of financial integrity and compliance, playing a vital role in the audit processes and ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported. The position is full-time, with a salary range of $81,000 to $121,600, depending on experience and internal equity within the position classification at UCSF. The role is integral to the financial operations of the School of Nursing, which is recognized for its commitment to impactful research and excellence in healthcare practices.

Responsibilities

  • Independently develop and oversee research proposals, awards, and transactions related to contract and grant management.
  • Maintain contract and grant records in compliance with institutional research sponsor policies.
  • Complete and approve transactions for signature by the manager or other authorized institutional officials.
  • Administer the financial aspects of multiple extramural funds ensuring compliance with university policies and funding body requirements.
  • Monitor budgets, verify permissible expenses, and prepare detailed financial reports and invoices for funding agencies.
  • Serve as the primary financial liaison between principal investigators, university departments, and external funding agencies.
  • Offer ongoing financial guidance and support to researchers and assist in audit processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and a minimum of three years of experience or equivalent experience/training.
  • Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software for financial analysis and fiscal management.
  • Ability to maintain independent judgment and possess strong organization and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal, and reporting principles.
  • Ability to manage a significant volume of transactions and perform complex financial analysis.
  • Strong writing skills to draft persuasive text for various audiences while adhering to funding sponsor guidelines.

  • Thorough understanding of research administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities, preferably in a university environment.
