About the position

The Research Graduate Assistant in Sociology and Criminology at Eastern Michigan University is responsible for supporting faculty members in various research activities. This role involves engaging in all phases of research, including design, literature review, data collection, analysis, and the presentation of findings. The position is part-time, requiring up to 20 hours of work per week, and is designed for graduate students enrolled in relevant programs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist university faculty/staff with research-related projects or assignments.
  • Engage in all phases of research from design through literature review, data collection, analysis, and writing.
  • Prepare and present research findings as required.
  • Support teaching duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a graduate program at Eastern Michigan University.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher is required.
  • Maintenance of a 67% course completion is required.
  • Ability to work up to 20 hours per week (10 hrs. for 50% assistantship).
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis software (e.g., SPSS, R, STATA, SAS).
  • Familiarity with spatial analysis software (e.g., GIS).
  • Familiarity with qualitative analysis software (e.g., NVivo, ATLAS.ti).
  • Skills in qualitative or quantitative analysis.
