About the position

The Research Informatics Analyst - Lead-CIA at the University of Mississippi Medical Center is responsible for formulating and defining project and system scope and objectives based on user needs and database specifications. This role involves solving complex problems related to application and database functionality, guiding assigned personnel, and ensuring quality assurance on projects. The analyst will also lead efforts in researching, designing, developing, and maintaining database ETL code and queries to support research informatics data management and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Formulates and defines project and system scope and objectives based on applications and database specifications and user needs.
  • Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering application and database functionality.
  • Analyzes and revises existing research informatics system documentation.
  • Provides guidance and leadership to assigned personnel and project team members.
  • Responsible for quality assurance review on projects.
  • Researches, designs, develops, codes, tests, debugs, maintains, and documents database ETL code and queries.
  • Works with informatics personnel to support data management and analysis, monitor data quality, and implement new standards for data analysis and visualization.
  • Keeps abreast of current technologies and serves as a resource to other informatics personnel.
  • Prepares required documents in accordance with UMMC programming standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Participates in technical committees to identify and communicate risks and progress toward milestones.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, healthcare, mathematics, business, or a related field.
  • Six years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Epic certification or accreditation in Clinical Data Model, Access Data Model, or Revenue Data Model (must obtain within 6 months if not certified).
  • Knowledge of information systems, analysis, and programming.
  • Knowledge of relational database systems and SQL.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Analytical, programming, and troubleshooting skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Information systems experience in healthcare or related field preferred.
