About The Position

The Research Information Management System Administrator at the University of Montana is responsible for the development and administration of the UM IMPACT system, which is designed to manage research information and analytics. This role supports researchers and campus units in maintaining and interpreting research data, facilitating collaboration, and enhancing the visibility of research outputs. The position plays a crucial role in advancing the university's research strategy and promoting scholarly productivity through effective data management and outreach efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Understanding of scholarly publishing and scholarly communications.
  • Familiarity with bibliographic and other metadata schema.
  • Experience developing and managing programs and services in an academic setting.
  • Ability to manage workload and establish priorities for multiple processes.
  • Experience working with individual scholars and organizations in the academic research enterprise.
  • Experience with institution-wide outreach and communication programs.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to provide training and support to researchers and staff.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree or higher in library and information science, humanities or social science field.
  • Prior experience working with research impact metrics.
  • Two or more years of professional experience in program coordination or management in higher education.
  • Prior experience providing training to researchers or staff in an academic setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse constituency.
  • Demonstrated experience managing people and resources in large projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and administer UM IMPACT and related research impact and analysis services.
  • Conduct daily technical administrative work, data entry, and data checking for UM IMPACT data accuracy.
  • Create new faculty/researcher profiles in UM IMPACT as needed.
  • Liaise with college and departmental research support officers for data entry and editing of publication citations, grant information, patents, and awards.
  • Manage and maintain the UM IMPACT public portal to showcase research strengths.
  • Propose, coordinate, and support UM IMPACT policies.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to produce and deliver reports based on UM IMPACT data.
  • Monitor the UM IMPACT email account and respond to queries.
  • Support UM faculty and researchers in maintaining their UM IMPACT profiles.
  • Work closely with staff in the Provost's Office on the implementation of Interfolio.
  • Submit support tickets to the product vendor and participate in vendor trainings and meetings.
  • Develop and coordinate communication and outreach to UM IMPACT stakeholders.
  • Provide training and guidance to educate faculty and staff on UM IMPACT.
