About the position
The Research Internship at RTI International offers students an opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research within the Discovery Sciences unit, focusing on environmental health and justice. This internship emphasizes experiential learning, allowing interns to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting while developing essential laboratory research skills. Interns will work on projects related to microplastics and nanoplastics, contributing to significant environmental and health research.
Responsibilities
- Conducting research in material science, including fabrication and characterization of nanostructured materials, specifically microplastic and nanoplastic particles.
- Assisting with data analysis and summarizing research findings.
- Drafting literature reviews and manuscripts.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Undergraduate Junior or Senior studying Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Environmental, Earth and Geographic Science or related majors.
- Completed coursework in biology and chemistry.
- Available two days/week for at least 4 consecutive hours during business hours in the fall semester and 20 hours per week during the summer (8 am - 5 pm).
- Able to commute to RTI Headquarters located in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
Nice-to-haves
- Minimum GPA 3.0 preferred.
