About the position

The Research Lab Technician II position at the Keck School of Medicine involves assisting with NIH-funded research focused on the role of noncoding RNAs in disease pathogenesis. The role requires a detailed understanding of gene expression regulation and familiarity with transcriptomic data analysis, including RNA-seq and miRNA-seq.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with ongoing NIH-funded research on noncoding RNAs in disease pathogenesis.
  • Pre-process and analyze transcriptomic data, including RNA-seq and miRNA-seq.
  • Utilize programming skills in Python and R for data analysis.
  • Manage and analyze data using bash/Linux command-line and cloud cluster computing.
  • Interpret research data and provide routine analysis.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in computational biology, computer sciences, bioinformatics, or related disciplines.
  • Proficiency in Python and R programming languages.
  • Familiarity with bash/Linux command-line and cloud cluster computing.
  • Experience in database management and programming skills.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a laboratory setting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with laboratory equipment and research protocols.
  • Knowledge of computer analysis techniques.
