About the position
The University of Michigan's Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology is seeking a skilled and motivated Research Laboratory Technician Senior to join the Dus Lab, focusing on molecular biology and neuroscience research related to nutrition and disease. The role involves conducting experiments, data analysis, and mentoring undergraduate students, contributing to the lab's mission of understanding how nutrients influence perception and interaction with the world.
Responsibilities
- Conduct and troubleshoot experiments in molecular biology and neuroscience.
- Record and analyze experimental data, organizing it for publication.
- Participate actively in lab meetings and contribute to project goals.
- Perform lab administrative tasks including ordering supplies, inventory management, and equipment maintenance.
- Oversee animal maintenance and ensure compliance with lab safety protocols.
- Train and supervise 2-3 undergraduate students and 1-2 rotation students.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a science-related field.
- 1-2 years of related research experience, which may include concurrent undergraduate studies.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
- Creativity and meticulous attention to detail.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with confocal imaging and fine dissections.
- Familiarity with Drosophila husbandry and genetics.
