About the position
The Research Lab Technician position at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital involves setting up and operating research instruments, applying scientific techniques, and maintaining Shared Resources equipment. The role includes providing training to end-users, managing supply orders, processing invoices, and overseeing chemical and equipment inventory. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining instrument records and preparing fee-for-service reports.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate research instruments under the direction of Shared Resources and Support.
- Apply scientific techniques related to Shared Resources equipment.
- Provide end-user training on equipment and processes.
- Manage supply ordering and invoice payment processing.
- Oversee chemical and equipment inventory management.
- Maintain records of instrument maintenance.
- Prepare fee-for-service reports using software.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 1-year experience, or
- Associate's degree with 5 years' experience, or
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with 9 years' experience.
- Familiarity with scientific research environment.
- Ability to enter computer data and perform basic statistical analysis.
- Rigid accuracy in identifying and reporting data.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to use automated instruments and mechanical apparatuses.
- Ability to shift priorities and commit to timely task completion in emergency situations.
