Research Lab Technician

About the position

The position involves setting up and operating research instruments within the Scientific Shared Resources department. The role focuses on applying scientific techniques and maintaining equipment, while also providing training to end-users and managing inventory and supply orders. The individual will balance various tasks including instrument maintenance record keeping and preparing fee-for-service reports.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate research instruments.
• Apply scientific techniques related to Shared Resources equipment.
• Provide end-user training on equipment usage.
• Manage supply ordering and invoice payment processing.
• Maintain chemical and equipment inventory.
• Keep records of instrument maintenance.
• Prepare fee-for-service reports.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree with 1-year experience OR Associate's degree with 5 years' experience OR High school diploma, GED or equivalent with 9 years' experience.
• Familiarity with scientific research environment.
• Ability to enter computer data and perform basic statistical analysis.
• Rigid accuracy in identifying and reporting data.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to use automated instruments and mechanical apparatuses.
• Ability to shift priorities and commit to timely task completion in emergency situations.
