About the position

The University of Southern California is seeking a dedicated Research Lab Technician to join the Mousavi research group. This position is crucial for facilitating the documentation, storage, and testing of clinical samples aimed at validating wearable devices. The technician will provide essential technical assistance to other laboratory members, ensuring that research experiments are conducted efficiently and effectively. The role involves conducting standardized tests and procedures under close supervision, which is vital for maintaining the integrity of the research process. In this position, the technician will be responsible for preparing experimental materials in accordance with established laboratory protocols and safety guidelines. This includes collecting and sterilizing dishware and glassware for laboratory use, as well as handling and disposing of both hazardous and non-hazardous materials in compliance with safety protocols. The technician will also set up and operate standard laboratory equipment, ensuring that all equipment is maintained in good working order. Accurate record-keeping is a critical aspect of this role, as the technician will maintain detailed records of the procedures used to conduct basic experiments. Additionally, the technician will perform limited routine analysis and provide basic interpretations of the results. Under the guidance of an experienced technician, the technician will prepare chemical solutions and stock laboratory supplies, monitoring inventory levels and ordering supplies as necessary. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining an orderly and operable laboratory environment, learning basic laboratory safety protocols, and, if applicable, basic radiation or blood-borne pathogen safety under the direction of the USC Safety Office and more experienced laboratory staff. This position is on-site and requires a commitment of 30 hours per week. The hourly rate for this position ranges from $21.07 to $23.92, depending on various factors such as the candidate's experience and education. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: High school or equivalent.
