About the position

Creighton University is seeking a Research Laboratory Technician II for the Hong Lab, which focuses on studying cellular mechanisms of mouse auditory neurons. This role involves assisting the Principal Investigator in establishing essential electrophysiology and molecular biology setups for experiments, as well as managing various laboratory tasks. The position is ideal for recent graduates or students nearing completion of their undergraduate degree, particularly those interested in pursuing graduate studies in neuroscience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Principal Investigator in building electrophysiology and molecular biology setups for experiments.
• Manage lab tasks including ordering supplies, maintaining equipment, and routine cleaning.
• Handle daily mouse tasks including genotyping and using ABR and noise exposure systems.
• Conduct molecular biology and histology experiments.
• Maintain detailed records, analyze data, and document results.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience, Biomedical Sciences, Communication Sciences and Disorders, Biology or related field required.
• 2+ years of experience working on an independent project in a research lab environment.
• Experience with rodent handling, molecular biology, patch clamp, and/or electrophysiology.
• Demonstrated success in completing research projects and conducting experiments.
• Familiarity with experimental design, including replicates, controls, and reproducibility.
• Excellent reading and writing skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Experience with MATLAB is ideal.
• Organized, reliable, self-sufficient, and goal-oriented.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with fluorescence imaging and viral injections.
• Knowledge of auditory brainstem response (ABR) techniques.
