Responsibilities

  • Recognizes and accesses system components and processes within clinical research environment.
  • Focuses on the usual and customary needs of the research participant/patient and family.
  • Anticipates future needs and bases care on standards and research protocols.
  • Maintains a safe physical environment and demonstrates awareness of potential adverse events throughout the research study.
  • Works on behalf of research participant and family, representing them when they cannot represent themselves.
  • Assesses participants, clients, and families, recognizing normal parameters, deviations, and abnormalities.
  • Develops a plan of care and effectively prioritizes both expected and unanticipated needs.
  • Involves participants, clients, families, and clinical research and health team members in establishing protocol specific research study implementation and adherence goals.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the implementation of technical skills and remains current on CCHMC policies.
  • Educates participants/families on the purpose of the research study, study procedures, potential benefits/risks, and rights of research participants.
  • Ensures informed consent process is carried out correctly and addresses all patient/participant questions.
  • Collaborates effectively with investigators to ensure proper progress and completion of clinical studies.
  • Maintains records and files required by regulatory agencies and industrial sponsors for clinical studies.
  • Provides just-in-time feedback and demonstrates interest in evaluating other perspectives to ensure clinical research care.

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of RN experience.
  • Current Ohio RN license.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field OR Associates Degree in nursing with commitment to BSN.
