About the position

Nightwing is seeking a full-time Senior Research Operations Specialist who will play a crucial role in our mission to provide intelligence reporting and reference services to the Intelligence Community (IC). This position is based in the Herndon, VA area and involves conducting extensive research and analysis to support our customers' needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for running queries and performing in-depth research to provide retrievable copies of documents collected or produced by the customer, often referred to as the Document Library. The collections may include various forms such as electronic documents, hard copies, microfilm, and online full-text databases. As the focal point for intelligence reporting, the Senior Research Operations Specialist will maintain the classified library and archive documents as appropriate. The role requires significant prior customer knowledge and relatable experience to effectively analyze research results and determine the applicability of documents to specific tasks. The individual will be expected to provide results in accordance with customer guidelines, ensuring high-quality service delivery. Typical duties include electronically reviewing newly processed documents, identifying potential duplicates in the existing repository, assessing these duplicates, and documenting decisions in the customer's automated system. The candidate will also create memoranda or written reports that document the results of quality assurance studies and investigations, including recommendations for remediation. Scanning documents to provide customers with electronic responses when necessary is also part of the role. This position demands a driven self-starter who is proactive in seeking clarification and can adapt to new processes quickly, all while being a collaborative team player.

Responsibilities

  • Run queries and perform intense research to provide retrievable copies of documents for the Document Library.
  • Maintain the classified library and archive documents when appropriate.
  • Electronically review newly processed documents and identify potential duplicates in the existing document repository.
  • Assess document duplicates and record decisions in the customer's automated system.
  • Create memoranda or written reports documenting the results of quality assurance studies and investigations, including recommendations for remediation.
  • Scan documents to provide customers with electronic responses when necessary.

Requirements

  • Six or more years of experience searching/querying databases with the ability to quickly adjust to new systems.
  • Driven self-starter who is proactive in seeking clarification when needed and capable of adapting to new processes.
  • Must be a team player willing to collaborate and develop robust relationships with clients, colleagues, and technical teams.
  • Skilled in time management with the ability to prioritize competing tasks and multitask to meet tight deadlines.
  • Goal-oriented individual who can apply critical thinking and provide out-of-the-box solutions.
  • Experience with data calls and quick reaction tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers and various management levels, delivering a proactive experience and approach to high-quality services for all stakeholders.
